The series features stunning bullion offerings from the eight Eastern Caribbean Island nation members. Included are Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The third new edition to release is this 2020 1oz Silver EC8 Grenada Octopus BU.
Each of the 2018 and 2019 8-coin editions quickly became best-sellers, and maintained strong series popularity throughout the full release cycle. Now, with this third 2020 release, the series is well underway! We are continuing to experience high demand, both during presale offerings and the live releases.
The very attractive obverse will be common to the series. The inset features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Distinctive laurels of evergreen shrubs frame the portrait on either side, nearly filling the center inset. A narrow band encircles the rim, which includes the inscriptions, "EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK. 1 oz .999 SILVER . QUEEN ELIZABETH II . TWO DOLLARS."
The reverse features a Caribbean Reef Octopus, a species native to the Eastern Caribbean. It is depicted swimming just above the ocean floor, in search of its next meal. The background reveals constant streams of bubbles being released by hydrothermal vents from the Kick 'Em Jenny undersea volcano, just 8 km off Grenada's North shore. Inscriptions include "GRENADA" arched at the top rim and "2020" just under it. At the bottom rim is included, "Caribbean Reef Octopus." This is a remarkably active underwater scene that pays close attention to fine detail. The 2020 1oz Silver EC8 Grenada Octopus BU coin will be a great addition to the on-going series!
