Galvanic Plated Coating
The Space Blue coating on this Australia Perth Silver Kookaburra BU coin greatly enhances the iconic beauty of the coin’s design. The color does not conceal any aspect of the design, as the special galvanic-plating process results in a transparent color surface that allows every detail of the coin to shine through, including the underlying mirror surface. The resulting effect produces a truly unique presentation of the Australia Silver Kookaburra! You might find it interesting to know that the same talent that produced the highly-acclaimed Germania Space Blue silver round also was enlisted for this series.
Silver Australia Kookaburra
From its introduction in 1990, the popularity of the Kookaburra worldwide has been remarkable. Anticipation builds as each new release date approaches, and annual pre-sale volumes also continue to soar. This 2019 1 oz Australia Silver Kookaburra will certainly be a proud addition to your collection!
Perth continues their annual unveiling of a new Kookaburra design, and for 2019, the scene it displays is wonderfully fresh!
Lovely and Graceful
The obverse introduces for the first time, the 6th generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II to be displayed on Australian coins. The new portrait is based on that designed by Jody Clark of the Royal Mint for 2016. It is distinctively different, however, in that it displays the Queen’s shoulders and full neckline. This is a very lovely and graceful pose. This new effigy is certain to be well received. The band at the rim includes the inscriptions, “ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA” at the top, and “1 DOLLAR” at the bottom.
Sunset at Water’s Edge
The reverse design displays a very pleasing water scene at sunset. The large kookaburra is featured perched on a branch of a submerged tree, just above the water’s calm surface. Perching is a favorite pastime of the laughing kookaburra as it waits for its next meal to scurry by. The fine detail of the bird is even more noticeable as its size fills nearly a third of the coin’s center field. In fact, its tail feathers extend beyond the rim!
On the horizon the large sun slowly disappears into the water. Slight ripples on the water’s surface provide a nice sense of movement. A small tree is seen off to the right, growing among tall dense grasses. Overall this an exceptionally pleasing design, worthy of the fine legacy of the Australian Silver Kookaburra bullion series. The narrow band at the rim frames the design very well with the inscriptions “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA” at the top, and “2019 1 oz 9999 SILVER” at the bottom. The Perth mintmark is at the left.
