Everything about it is big, bold and powerful - from the theme, to the size, to the impeccable production. And finally, the incredibly powerful design detail that grabs your imagination, and just won't let go! This 2022 Tokelau Auspicious Dragon Zodiac Pairings: Chinese Dragon & Tiger 2 oz Silver Antiqued HR coin is an unmistakable must have!
The theme of this magnificent new Tokelau series, Auspicious Dragon Zodiac Pairs speaks of the influence of pairing the auspicious dragon with the current Chinese New Year's zodiac animal sign. The dragon adds its influence of hope, luck, and success to the Ox's determined diligence, patience, and persistent strength. This pairing is said to bring forth the most favorable of influences for the lunar year.
The obverse displays what is likely the most unique presentation of Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II displayed on a legal tender bullion coin. The presence of the auspicious dragon is seen in the background, as are the patterns the fill the background field. The Queen's portrait is displayed within a circular inset, although the dragon image and textures fill the entire obverse. Inscriptions at the outer rim include, "TOKELAU . 2022 . 10 DOLLARS" and "Elizabeth II" encircle the inset rim.
The reverse of this 2022 Tokelau Dragon Zodiac Pairs: Chinese Dragon & Tiger 2oz Silver Antiqued High Relief Coin coin features an incredibly powerful depiction of the auspicious dragon. The ferocity depicted on its face is terrifying. Its long, serpentine body curls to surround the Tiger, not for harm, but protection. The dragon is pairing its influence with the Tiger as it is displayed bursting on the scene of the Year of the Tiger 2022, determined in its strength and diligence to make a positive and enduring influence on the year.
The production of this magnificent coin has been made possible only through a new minting technique known as Bi-Metal-Plus. The process begins with an 11.5 oz copper core within two layers of 999 fine silver. This results in a large 80mm diameter, double that of a normal collectible bullion coin. The 11.5 oz copper core adds tremendous bulk and weight without the extra cost of an equivalent amount of silver weight. This also allows for the super ultra-high relief strike that brings alive the coin's incredibly detailed design.
