This gorgeous new 2023 1 oz Silver Britannia coin includes one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the Royal Mint's purest silver release. The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is displayed on the obverse, which Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark designed. The background is packed with an eye-catching guilloché security structure. With the recent death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the 2023 date mark will be the last to feature Britain's longest-reigning monarch. The 2023 Queen Elizabeth II Gold Britannia Type 1 will be produced for only a few weeks before the series is changed by coins featuring a new King Charles III portrait.

Britannia, the strong, watchful female personification of the United Kingdom, is represented on the reverse. Britannia holds a trident in one hand, ready to defend the seas. On the other hand, she wields a large shield emblazoned with the image of the British flag, prepared to protect the realm. Britannia has appeared on British coinage for centuries as a symbol of power and integrity. "BRITANNIA 2023 1 oz 999 FINE SILVER" is inscribed within the narrow rim band.

The reverse of this incredible coin has four visible security elements. Each element complements the existing design while also improving anti-counterfeiting measures.

• The background sequence is a wave pattern that captures light on the ground of the coin. This pattern simulates the sea waves off the coast of Great Britain. This not only brings an appealing texture but also raises security.
• Also, Britannia's shield displays fine, smooth lines. Again, this is as much of a design enhancement as it is to increase security.
• The third element features a holographic image of a padlock within a small circle in the lower left corner. The image of the trident changes as the coin is tilted.
• The final security enhancement displays the Latin phrase "Decus Et Tutamen," which means, "An ornament and a safeguard." This phrase is micro-etched in very small type along the inner rim of the coin.
