BOLD is pleased to offer this 20 Kroner Gold Denmark Coin (Avg. Circulated) struck by the Danish Royal Mint. The modern Kroner is the official currency of Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. Its establishment as Denmark's official national currency dates back to 1875, although Kroner coins had already been minted in the area as early as the 17th century. Among the first coins issued when the Kroner became the national currency was the Gold 20 Kroner, which is 90% pure gold and slightly larger than Britain's sovereign coin.
The Copenhagen Mint produced the 20 Kroner Christian X coin on behalf of the Danish government. Produced between 1913 and 1917, the coins for this particular king are marginally larger than those of the British gold sovereigns.
The coin's obverse side features the likeness of one of Denmark's three reigning kings. It is one of the most popular designs of Danish King Christian IX. A side view of King Christian X with the words KONGE AF DANMARK translates to "King of Denmark." Frederik VIII's son, Christian X, ruled Denmark as king from 1912 until 1947. This type of coin was produced in an estimated 3.7 million pieces, but many were lost, destroyed, or damaged in the following wars, making this particular 20 Kroner extremely rare.
At the center of the coin is the national shield of Denmark, while the year of mintage, coin value, and initials VBP - which refer to the Mint's chief engraver during that time, V.B. Poulsen - appear below it. The coin's reverse side bears a little heart symbol that proves its origin.
This 20 Kroner Gold Denmark Coin (Avg. Circulated) is a rare find and would make a valuable addition to any world Gold coin collection. Get your hands on it today!
