Rangi and Papa, or Ranginui and Papatūānuku, are the primal couple from the Maori mythology that explains the origin of the world and the Maori people. The elements of the world, like water, insects, reptiles, food, storms, and wind, are referred to as the offsprings of Rangi and Papa.
