The Story of Rangi and Papa

Rangi and Papa, or Ranginui and Papatūānuku, are the primal couple from the Maori mythology that explains the origin of the world and the Maori people. The names are also translated and mentioned as the Sky father and the Earth mother. The elements of the world, like water, insects, reptiles, food, storms, and wind, are referred to as the offsprings of Rangi and Papa. Rangi and Papa are locked together in a tight embrace, forcing the kids to live in a cramped darkness between them. Find out more about the story here.
