The reverse design depicts an aerial view of mounds in the Marching Bear Group. This is the only cluster of the Monument’s mounds where effigies of both bear and bird mounds are grouped close together. This made it a good choice to feature on the coin. The Monument was established in 1949, and within its 2,526 acres, contains 206 mounds. These mounds are considered sacred by the 20 Native American tribes associated with Effigy National Monument. This ATB coin proudly features a view into this amazing and culturally rich Monument.
- 2017 Silver 5 oz ATB Frederick Douglass, Washington D.C. (10 Coins)

His life’s path stretched from his beginnings as a runaway slave. He is shown seated at a writing desk, with his home in Washington, D.C. in the background. In 1962 this site was established as a National Historic Site to ensure its on-going preservation, and to highlight the tremendous legacy of this statesman and civil rights advocate. This finely designed ATB coin distinctively commemorates that legacy.
- 2017 Silver 5 oz ATB Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Missouri (10 Coins)
The reverse depicts Alley Mill, an 1894 steel roller mill, with the beautiful Alley Springs flowing through, which powered the turbine mill. This merchant gristmill was used to grind wheat flour. Much of the original milling equipment is still in place, and visitors to the park can tour the mill. The mill is one of the Riverways’ most iconic historic structures. However, the lush natural beauty of this place, as well as its recreational areas is truly wonderful. This ATB coin well represents both the history and natural setting, encouraging visitors to come and appreciate the entire experience.
- 2017 Silver 5 oz ATB Ellis Island National Monument, New Jersey (10 Coins)
The reverse design depicts an immigrant family approaching Ellis Island with both deep reflection and hope on their faces. The young boy holds a small American flag. The hospital building can be seen in the background. Ellis was often referred to as an “Island of Hope” during an extended time of worldwide upheaval. This immigration center, along with the Statue of Liberty, became a true icon of hope. This ATB coin captures a true sense of the hopeful desires of the many families who passed through these halls.
