With a total of 6 oz .9999 fine silver, the releases include:
- 2013 Silver 1.5 oz Canada Polar Bear
- 2014 Silver 1.5 oz Canada Arctic Fox
- 2015 Silver 1.5 oz Canada Polar Bear & Cub
- 2016 Silver 1.5 oz Canada White Falcon
With this 2013 inaugural release, the Royal Canadian Mint introduced a new silver bullion coin series. Following a similar theme of their earlier 1 oz Canadian Wildlife series. With the increased weight of 1.5 oz producing a thicker coin (4.5 mm), while maintaining the same diameter as that of the 1 oz Maple Leaf the series quickly gained wide popularity among both collectors and precious metals investors world-wide.
This first release features the Arctic Polar Bear, which is believed to be in danger of extinction, with only an estimated 20,000 bears left in the wild. The lone bear is depicted walking along the solitude of the vast, frigid Canadian arctic. Its massive size and tremendous strength is clearly displayed by its heavy muscle tone. You can sense the stillness of this arctic scene interrupted as the bear's massive paws hit the ice as it lumbers along. This amazing animal is portrayed in this brilliant and striking design in its harsh, untamed native environment.
With this 2014 Silver 1.5 oz Canada Arctic Fox release, the Royal Canadian Mint issues the second coin in the Canada Arctic Wildlife series. The coin features a wonderful design by Canadian artist, Maurice Gervais.
A lone fox stands alert with the frozen arctic tundra stretching into the background. The fine detail of the engraving creates a very active and attractive design. The fox's beautiful fur is thick, displaying its fine texture and shading. You can see in the fox's face, it is at alert, with its head turned to look back at something it senses nearby. Its stance reveals a full-body view, including its very full and fluffy tail. This is a stunning, natural wildlife scene that displays something of the richness of the Canadian arctic wilderness.
With this 2015 Silver 1.5 oz Canada Polar Bear & Cub release, the Royal Canadian Mint issues the third coin in the series introduced in 2013. Returning to the subject that opened the series, the Arctic Polar Bear. This coin design is a remarkable, and somewhat poignant re-visitation.
As considered in the 2013 release, this species is believed to be on the verge of extinction. The design of the first coin pictured a lone bear with the tundra stretching out into the horizon. In this 2015 release, we find a large mother bear standing over and behind her cub. We sense that she is providing both protection and encouragement to her small cub. The fineness of detail captured on both bears make for a very attractive and somewhat heartwarming scene.
With this 2016 release of the 1.5 oz Silver Falcon, the Royal Canadian Mint issues the fourth and final coin in the series introduced in 2013. The close detail displayed in this beautifully fierce creature is stunning!
Shown in flight, with its large wings thrusting downward, the falcon rises higher in its search for fresh prey. Each feather is so finely engraved that the resulting effect gives a full sense of depth to the design. The left facing profile exposes a single, piercing eye fixed forward, as its sharp, deadly beak opens slightly. The falcon's powerful claws are tucked under its body, to allow for fast, streamlined flight, necessary for hunting. Every aspect of this coin is truly a remarkable!
