On October 1, 2021, a new reverse design for the American Eagle Silver coins was revealed. The coins minted in 2021 are available in two types – Type 1 and Type 2. While the Type 1 design is similar to the design on the coins minted between 1986 and 2021, the Type 2 design is a new take on the coin’s reverse for the first time in thirty-five years.
This new reverse design still features a bald eagle but in a different way. Here, the eagle is shown landing from a flight, grasping an oak branch between its claws.
Moreover, this version of the American Silver Eagles features Adolph Weinman’s initials “AW” on the obverse section for the first time since 1986.
