The background image depicts a large merchant ship underway on its journey to the distant East, actively engaged in the ongoing trade expansion. The inscriptions include "ONE TROY OUNCE" encircling the inside border at the left, and ".999 FINE SILVER" on the right. Encircling the center design at the rim is the same oriental-style decorative border as on the obverse.
