The Industrious Ox

The ox is the second animal of the Chinese Zodiac and is considered to be very adaptable and enterprising. Those born under the sign of the Chinese lunar ox in 2021, 2009, 1997, 1985, 1973, 1961 and every 12th preceding year, are said to be prudent, calm, strong-willed, persistent, determined, industrious, honest, and hardworking.

As a legal tender release by Australia, the obverse displays the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II within a decoratively framed circular inset. Inscriptions encircling the inside rim include, "ELIZABETH II . AUSTRALIA . 2021 . 1 DOLLAR." Encircling the outer rim are images of the 12 animals that comprise the Chinese lunar calendar.

The reverse of this very nice 2021 1oz Silver Australia Lunar Ox BU coin design maintains the attractive layout introduced on the inaugural 2020 release. A single ox is featured walking among hanging leafing branches. Inscriptions are displayed within a circular inset and include the Chinese character for "Ox" as well as, "YEAR OF THE OX . 1 oz .999 Ag."
