$39.81With the release of this very fine, limited mintage 2020 Australia Sumatra Tiger 1oz Silver BU coin, the prestigious Royal Australian Mint introduces the first offering of their new series celebrating the Australia Zoo. This inaugural series release features the Sumatran Tiger.
One of the smallest tigers, the Sumatran is distinguished by its sleek smaller size and the stunning coloration of its coat. Its fur is distinctively darker compared with other near species, and with wider stripes. The Sumatran Tiger is remarkably handsome, yet sadly, an endangered species. With the release of this 2020 Australia Sumatra Tiger 1oz Silver BU Coin celebrating the Australia Zoo, heightened attention may be drawn to magnificent creatures such as the Sumatran Tiger.
As an Australian legal tender offering the obverse, common to the new series, displays the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth designed by Jody Clark. Inscriptions encircling the rim include, "ELIZABETH II . AUSTRALIA 2020 . 1 DOLLAR."
The reverse features a very attractive and active scene depicting a Sumatran Tiger splashing along through a shallow pool of water. The tiger is finely detailed, its head is raised high and turned, looking back over its left shoulder. Although there is no fierceness displayed, the strength depicted in its profile is majestic! Inscriptions at the rim include, "AUSTRALIA ZOO . SUMATRAN TIGER . 1 oz 999 Ag."
