Each year since 1995, The Perth Mint has proudly offered a distinctive new design celebrating the current year's animal that represents one of the 12 animals of the ancient Chinese lunar calendar. For 2022 we celebrate the third animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Tiger.

As noted by the mint, "Those born under the sign of the Chinese lunar tiger in 2022, 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974 and each 12th preceding year are said to be natural leaders blessed with courage, charm and confidence"

Powerful Design

As legal tender offerings by Australia, the obverse for the series displays the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Inscriptions include, "ELIZABETH II . AUSTRALIA along with the coin's 1/4 oz weight and 99.99 purity, and the (AU) 25 Dollars face value.

The reverse of this 2022 Gold 1/4oz Australia Perth Lunar Tiger BU coin features a powerful scene depicting a large adult tiger standing upon a tall rocky peak. The tiger has turned its head to look behind and opens its mouth in a deep growl. The lion's stance is truly majestic! Inscriptions include the Chinese character for Year of the Tiger, and "TIGER 2022." The "P" Perth mintmark is at the left rim.
