The concept of low-mintage, highly-collectible ennobled bullion offerings is far from a passing novelty. Releases from both the major world mints and smaller regional ones produce new ennobled singles and series annually to an eager and ever-growing base.
Ennobling can take many different forms, from hand-applying an antique finish, all the way to extremely-detailed hand-painting of an entire scene of a proof-minted coin. The term ennoble generally means "to elevate in degree or in excellence." However, in each case, the desire is to increase appreciation of the ennobled item.
This is certainly true of the exquisite ennobling effect applied to this 2019 1 oz Silver Australia Wedge-Tailed Eagle ‑ Golden Ring, fine silver bullion coin! The coin itself is, of course, produced by Perth Mint. Some may hold that this coin's nobility could not possibly be increased by the application of a two-color finish being applied post-production.
Perhaps, that's not really the point. The absolutely stunning design of this Wedge-Tailed Eagle may not need anything added to further perfect it. However, gazing at the actual affect the yellow-gold finish brings to the eagle's prominence is quite distinctive. This is particularly so with the yellow-gold rays emanating in all directions from the design's focal-center. The eagle's striking magnificence becomes overwhelming against the blackened background field! And the addition of the golden ring on the rim is a perfectly added final touch.
New for 2019 the obverse introduces the 6th generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II to be displayed on Australian coins. The new portrait is based on that designed by Jody Clark of the Royal Mint for 2016. It is distinctively different, however, in that it displays the Queen's shoulders and full neckline. This is a very lovely and graceful pose. The same two-colored ennobling has been applied to the obverse, with the stunning gold highlighting Queen Elizabeth, against the blackened background.
As with the Space Blue ennobled coins, the application of the colored finishes greatly enhances the stunning beauty of the coin's design. The added colors do not conceal any aspect of the coin. The special galvanic-plating process results in a transparent color surface that allows every detail of the coin to shine through, including the underlying brilliance. The resulting effect produces a truly unique presentation of the the Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle! The two colored finishes include Yellow-Gold and Ruthenium.
