Double Kook

Perth is celebrating this stellar, 30-year milestone by unveiling a wonderfully fresh Kookaburra design for both the obverse and reverse of this anniversary edition. Affectionately referred to by the mint as the "Double Kook," because each side features a different kookaburra image.

The obverse features a depiction of artist, Stuart Devlin&apo;s original 1990 kookaburra design. It is contained within a smaller, circular inset, offset towards the bottom rim-band. This iconic design displays the kookaburra perched upon a tree stump with native foliage providing a nice touch. The right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II produced by Jody Clark is contained within a small, second circular inset at the top, superimposing the rim-band at the top. The date range of the anniversary is inscribed under the effigy "1990 ‑ 2020." Inscriptions within the rim-band include, "ELIZABETH II . AUSTRALIA . 30 DOLLAR."

The reverse features a wonderfully fresh scene, designed by highly recognized artist, Jennifer McKenna. A large kookaburra fills the center, perched upon the peak of a corrugated rooftop. With the bright rays of the early sunrise in the background, the lone kookaburra is seen greeting the new morning with its loud, distinctive, crackling laughter. Inscriptions within the rim-band include, "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA" encircling the top, and "30th ANNIVERSARY . 1 kilo 9999 SILVER" at the bottom.

This 2020 Silver 1 kilo Australia Perth Kookaburra 30th Anniversary edition features a remarkably fine design. It brings together a sense of nostalgia, as represented by Stuart Devlin's original Kookaburra, with the brightness of a stunningly fresh sunrise scene. This anniversary edition is a fitting tribute to three decades of excellence as well as a celebration of many more to come. Join the celebration by reserving your desired quantity today!
