Each year a new reverse design introduces a unique scene featuring the African bush elephant. An ever-growing worldwide collector base anxiously awaits each year's release. This 2022 Somalia Elephant offering will most certainly be a highly-prized addition to your collection!
Common to the series, the obverse displays the shield of Somalia, which is the crowned coat of arms. Featuring two leopards, one standing erect on each side of the shield. Inscriptions include, "SOMALI REPUBLIC . 2022 . 100 shillings."
This year's reverse design is an image of the African bush elephant. In the exclusive 2022 design, the Bavarian State Mint showcases a large, adult elephant walking along the savanna with its young calf by its side. Birds fly overhead as trees dot the horizon in the distance.
The background displays a single tree and the grassy plains reaching to the distant horizon. Above the elephant's head, hangs a leafy branch and a bird is depicted suspended in the breeze. Inscriptions include, "AFRICAN WILDLIFE . ELEPHANT . 1 oz Ag 999.9." We believe that you will be very pleased with this remarkable 2022 Silver 1 oz Somalia Elephant edition.
The African Wildlife Elephant series is well established and highly popular worldwide. Its inaugural release was in 1999. Interestingly, the series began under the banner of the South African country Zambia. Four annual releases were produced bearing the Coat of Arms of Zambia. In 2004, the series was shifted to the Somali Republic, and has continued under the Somali Coat of Arms since. Each year a brand new elephant design is featured on the coin's reverse.
From the beginning, the series has been produced by one of Germany's state-owned mints, Bavarian State Mint. The mint is globally recognized for their excellence in quality, which is certainly represented in the African Wildlife Elephant series.
