BOLD is very pleased to present this release from the Royal Australian Mint, the 2022 Silver 1/2oz Royal Australian Mint Lunar Tiger Frosted Ingot Bar. Entering into this year's Lunar Tiger offering, global collectors have already voiced their overwhelming approval of these Chinese Zodiac-related coins. And judging from this 2022 Silver 1/2oz Royal Australian Mint Lunar Tiger Frosted Ingot Bar design, the demand will only increase!
The Royal Australian Mint proudly offers a distinctive new design celebrating the current year's animal that represents one of the 12 animals of the ancient Chinese lunar calendar. For 2022 we celebrate the third animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Tiger.
As noted by the mint, "According to legend the Chinese Jade Emperor announced a Great Race to establish the first twelve signs of the Lunar Zodiac. At the end of the race the animals had to cross a fast-flowing river and the first twelve would take their place in the Zodiac. The confident Tiger was a likely contender to win, but kept getting swept downstream by the strong currents. Showing the determination and strength synonymous with those born under the sign, the Tiger finally made it a shore in third place after the Rat and the Ox.
People born in the Year of the Tiger are said to be brave, charming and well liked."
As a legal tender offering by Australia, the obverse displays an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (who was born under the sign of the tiger!). Inscriptions include, "ELIZABETH II . AUSTRALIA 2022 . 1 DOLLAR."
The reverse of this 2022 Silver 1/2oz Australia Perth Lunar Tiger Frosted Ingot Bar features a tiger ready to spring into action to defend its territory and to ward off an unwanted guest. The tiger is poised and fight-ready on a rocky downslope amid pine branches, which are a symbol of strength. Very appropriate for tigers! The menace in its eyes makes it known that it means business! Inscriptions include the Chinese character for Year of the Tiger and "YEAR OF THE TIGER." The frosted finish gives a surreal look to the overall mood of the picture.
