As a legal tender offering of Niue, the obverse displays the Ian Rank-Broadley distinctive portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions encircling the portrait include, "ELIZABETH II . NIUE . TWO DOLLARS . 2022.

The reverse features a wonderfully stylized image of a Hawksbill turtle swimming through the Pacific Ocean as bubbles rise around it. The seabed below is textured, which heightens the beauty of the markings on the turtle's shell. The rimband is in the shape of an arc, and non-textured. The single inscription in the band is "TURTLE." Inscriptions at the rim below the turtle's image include, "FINE SILVER . 999 . 1 OZ."

"The Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata bissa), or locally named Taku, is one of two main turtle species of the South Pacific. Although they have a wide distribution throughout the world's tropical regions, Hawksbill turtles are considered critically endangered due to human fishing practices."
