This collection of Germanic goddesses- beautiful virgin warriors and daughters of Odin- carried the bravest souls that fell in battle to Valhalla. Ostara, who symbolizes spring and nature waking up after a long winter's nap, brings renewal, brightness, and joy.

Ostara

From the mint: "Introducing Ostara, the second coin in the Valkyries series from Germania Mint. 2023 Valkyries: Ostara 1 oz Silver BU continues the collection of Germanic goddesses, daughters of Odin, who according to Germanic mythology supported the bravest warriors who fell in battle. Ostara symbolizes spring awakening and bloom. With her comes freshness, light, and joy.

On the obverse of the coin Ostara, the goddess of victory over life, walks with a deer and a rabbit in tow, which are symbols of fertility. The mint says, "According to beliefs while walking in the snow, the Valkyrie found an injured bird and transformed it into a more cold-resistant animal – a rabbit. Ostara herself is clad in an airy white gown and floral garland. Her neckline is decorated with the Berkanan rune – responsible for vitality and regeneration, female fertility, and beauty. The vegetation in the scene has been colored green, adding beauty to an already appealing piece.

The reverse presents a completely new design, combining both the signature Germania Mint double-headed eagle and a grunting deer, which is Ostara's animal. The animal motif, symbolizing strength and independence, is not accidental – deer represent fertility. The entire design of the reverse is composed as a shield, which also contains the issue year, metal alloy and the 10 mark denomination. Select green coloring on the vegetation adds a sense of spring and renewal.

This second release in the Valkyries series of Germania Mint far exceeds our high expectations. With an extremely limited edge-numbered mintage of only 999 for worldwide distribution, you will need to be quick before this coin is escorted to Valhalla!
