This stunning Asahi Buffalo 1 oz Silver Round Proof is based on the original Buffalo nickel, minted from 1913-to 1938. Designed by James Earl Fraser, the Buffalo nickel was immediately popular with Americans and remains a favorite for collectors.
The obverse features Fraser's original Native American head profile. The detail of this exquisite and powerful design is beautifully emphasized by the quality and attention to detail inherent in proof coins and rounds. The brilliant background and frosted image seem to jump off the surface! The more noticeable details are wonderfully enhanced while the less noticeable are more easily viewed and appreciated. To the right of the profile is inscribed "LIBERTY," and below him is Asahi Refining's mint mark.
The reverse displays the familiar profile view of Black Diamond, standing on a mound. This was the American Bison (buffalo) used as the subject of Fraser's original design. It lived in the Bronx Zoo in New York at the time. As with the obverse, the details on this silver round are dramatically enhanced, with the brilliant background and frosted image almost life-like. The buffalo's mane is so detailed, that you might think you can feel it! Above Black Diamond is inscribed "ONE TROY OUNCE," while below him is inscribed ".999 SILVER."
Asahi Refining has been creating high-quality rounds for over 200 years. With five locations worldwide, Asahi is one of the most recognized names in precious metal assaying, refining, and bullion products. They are also one of the few brands to carry LBMA and COMEX certifications for delivery.
Silver bullion rounds have long been a sound choice for precious metals investors. Due to lower production costs, they generally have a smaller premium as compared to the same troy oz of silver coins. This, of course, results in less expensive upfront investment costs.
Silver rounds are available in many highly recognizable designs, making them very appreciated gift items. Proof quality rounds offer enhanced detail and typically are worth more than their BU versions, making them highly popular for collectors and investors alike. See the difference a proof makes in both visual impact and collectibility for yourself!
