"This uniquely interactive coin celebrates the story of Theseus, the Greek hero who slayed the Minotaur. Built by the legendary inventor Daedalus by order of King Minos of Crete, the labyrinth was both prison and lair of the monstrous Minotaur and was virtually impossible to exit.

After falling in love with Theseus, the daughter of the king, Ariadne, helped the hero conquer the labyrinth and kill the Minotaur by presenting him with a red ball of thread to unravel as he traveled along the seemingly endless corridors. Without Ariadne's shrewd assistance, Theseus would never have survived the labyrinth or the Minotaur!"
