The obverse side of the coin displays the effigy of Lady Liberty in the center, designed by Christain Gobrecht and minted between 1840 and 1907. The 13 stars represent the 13 colonies of the United States of America.
The reverse of the $2.50 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle Coin bears the heraldic eagle in the center, wielding a shield on its chest, holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons, symbolizing peace and war. The portrayal of the heraldic eagle is surrounded by the inscriptions depicting the country of issue and face value, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. 2 1/2 D.”
