This 2021 1oz Silver Australia Brumby BU coin displays a truly remarkable design produced by the highly accomplished, Jennifer McKenna. It features a powerfully active scene, revealing both the awesome wildness and incredible raw beauty of the Australian Brumby.

At Cliff's Edge

As a legal tender offering of Australia, the obverse displays the 6th generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II to be displayed on Australian coins, designed by Jody Clark. Inscriptions at the rim include, "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA" at the top, and "1 DOLLAR" at the bottom.

The reverse of this 2021 1oz Silver Australia Brumby BU coin features a magnificent scene of a brumby rearing at the edge of a cliff. Its large, muscular body powerfully takes over the center field of the design as it considers its jump to the next rocky crag along the cliff. However, the gracefulness in which the brumby throws about its long mane and tail adds a raw beauty to this remarkable wild beast. Inscriptions at the rim include, "AUSTRALIAN BRUMBY" at the top, and "2021 1oz 9999 SILVER" at the bottom.

As noted by the mint,

"According to tradition, when soldier and pastoralist James Brumby was transferred from Sydney to Van Diemen's Land in 1801, he was forced to release a number of horses into the bush. Known as Brumby's horses and later as "brumbies," the word came to mean wild horses.

Mobs of brumbies that most famously roam the Australian Alps today are descended from lost, abandoned or escaped horses that in many cases belonged to early British settlers like Brumby. Wild, independent, and successfully inhabiting a hostile environment, the brumby has become a national icon seen by many as symbolic of our national character."
