The obverse features the state flag of Missouri in the horizontal orientation. The Missouri state flag comprises the state seal in the center of the horizontal red-silver-blue stripes.
The reverse features the identifying marks that represent purity and weight. The Mint’s iconic Crowned Lion logo is engraved vertically to the bar's right, while “SCOTTSDALE MINT” is imprinted to the left. The inscription for the identifying marks is “1 TROY OZ FINE SILVER .999”.
The state flag of Missouri includes the symbolic of the flag colors and the symbolism in the state seal. The red-white-blue stripes on the flag represent valor, purity, and justice respectively. These colors are said to resemble the US national flag colors, however, also closely resemble the French influence. The coat of arms is encircled in 24 stars, representing the state 24th position in the US Union.
The seal is supported by two Grizzly bears on either side, representing vigilance and strength. The inscriptions on the seal are “Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto” meaning ‘Let the Welfare of the People Be the Supreme Law.’
