The obverse side of the silver bar represents the state flag of North Carolina with a colored finish. The North Carolina state flag is divided into three sections, with red and white stripes on the horizontal side and a vertical blue field on the left. The blue field contains various inscriptions, each signifying an event. The dates, May 20th, 1775, and April 12th, 1776, are when the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence was signed and when North Carolina became a US state, respectively.
The reverse features the identifying marks that represent purity and weight. The Mint’s iconic Crowned Lion logo is engraved vertically to the bar's right, while “SCOTTSDALE MINT” is imprinted to the left. The inscription for the identifying marks is “1 TROY OZ FINE SILVER .999.”
