BOLD is honored to present the reincarnation of the historic and symbolic Texas Commemorative Half-Dollar, the 1 oz Texas Silver Round from the Golden State Mint. GSM is renowned worldwide for its distinctive designs and quality of minting. This silver round is yet another captivating creation of the private mint struck in 1 oz of .999 fine silver!
The obverse resembles the original Texas Commemorative Dollar on the 1 oz Texas Silver Round. This obverse showcases the American bald eagle perched on an olive branch, flaunting its majestic posture and features, with the Texas Lone Star in the background. Several stars surround this imagery, each representing the states of the United States of America. The inscriptions are “E PLVRIBVS VNVM” and “IN GOD WE TRVST,” the US mottos.
The silver round’s reverse features the intricately detailed captivating imagery of the same Texas Commemorative Dollar issued from 1934-1938. This design includes the Angel of Victory in the center, holding an olive branch. Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, the Six Flags of Texas, and the Alamo surround the Angel. The inscriptions surrounding this depiction are “ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER” and the battle cry of Texas, “REMEMBER THE ALAMO.”
The Texas Commemorative Dollar, with a face value of fifty cents, was issued from 1934 to 1938. Hence, the coin was also termed a half-dollar. Congress approved the coin in 1933 after the American Legion’s Texas Centennial Committee proposed it as a fundraising measure for the 100th anniversary of Texas’s independence from Mexico. Pompeo Coppini created the Texas Commemorative half Dollar design, struck in the Denver, San Francisco, and Philadelphia facilities.
The 1 oz Texas Silver Round from the Golden State Mint (GSM) meticulously commemorates its rich history and increases the awareness of the current generation of Texas’s struggle for freedom.
