About the Austrian Empire!

Emperor Francis II founded the Austrian Empire to elevate it and its holdings in response to Napolean Bonaparte, who declared himself the Emperor of France. This empire later became known as the Austro-Hungarian Empire, ruling the lands of Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, parts of Poland, Ukraine, and northern Italy. The Habsburg Monarchy, among Europe’s most significant dynasties, ruled this empire from 1804 to 1867. As Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, Franz Joseph I ruled the multifaceted Austro-Hungarian Empire.
