2015 Silver 1 oz Canada Birds of Prey Owl

This fourth and final release in the Birds of Prey 4-coin series features the stately, fierce night-hunter the great horned owl. Created by Emily Damstra, a highly acclaimed illustrator. Damstra's works have graced over a dozen coin designs for the Royal Canadian Mint. Her detailed illustrations have a way of capturing nature in living action. And this 2015 Silver 1 oz Canada Owl (Birds of Prey) design is certainly an exquisite example!

The Great Horned Owl

The obverse of the coin features the right-facing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt. The reverse displays an awesome night scene. Hunting under the cover of darkness, this great horned owl is displayed in the very moment before it swoops down upon its prey. Its massive wings are spread so widely, they cannot be fully captured within the coin's field. The head-on view exposes the intensity of the owl's piercing focus. It also provides some insight into the last thing the owl's prey will ever see. The fineness of the detail displayed is truly incredible! This 2015 Silver 1 oz Canada Owl (Birds of Prey) .9999 fine silver bullion coin will certainly grace your growing collection.

History

The Royal Canadian Mint has commemorated some of Canada's most iconic birds of prey in this astounding 4-coin series. The featured bird designs of all four coins we created by Emily Damstra, a U.S. based illustrator. Having earned a Master of Fine Arts degree, Damstra specializes in illustrating themes centered in anthropology, botany, ecology, paleontology, and zoology. Her illustrations focus on detail as she attempts to capture and display something of the life strength of her subjects. Emily Damstra's work has certainly brought to life the featured birds in this current series!

Each coin contains a full 1 oz of 99.99% fine silver and crafted in an attractive bullion finish. The Royal Canadian Mint guarantees the authenticity and silver content of every coin from the Birds of Prey coin series.

The Birds of Prey 4-coin series released with two coins in 2014, and the final two in 2015. The series was received with much praise for the consistent quality of designs presented. This was a nice addition to the overall Canadian Wildlife theme, which the mint continues to promote to their global audience. Both precious metals investors and fine bullion coin collectors continue to value highly their investments in Canadian wildlife-themed series.
