This 2021 Interkosmos - Gagarin Orbital 1oz Silver BU commemorative round is the inaugural premium ennobled edition of the new series Interkosmos. The series is produced by Germania Mint for the Red Star project.

"Red Star is a new numismatic project, the aim of which is to acquaint Collectors all over the world with coins referring to the symbolism of the Soviet era." As for the story behind this first release of Interkosmos - Gagarin Orbital, the mint continues, "Yuri Gagarin flew only one cosmic mission, but in 1961 he made history as the first man in space. The 60th anniversary of this historic event is celebrated with the premium ennobled Gagarin Orbital 1oz Silver BU commemorative round."

InterKosmos - One Cosmic Mission

This stellar introduction to the Interkosmos series features a strikingly bold design that is worthy of the cosmic theme. The foreground of the obverse prominently features Yuri Gagarin, fully suited for the mission. The intricate detail of both Gagarin's image as well as the Vostok 1 rocket, in which he achieved earth orbit, is out of this world!

Planet Earth is shown in the background with latitude and longitude lines depicted. Finely engraved lines fill the background in a sunburst pattern, with 5-pointed stars also displayed. The inscription in the rimband is translated: "Gagarin - The First Man in Space." The reverse displays the State Emblem of the Soviet Union along with the denomination of 10 victories in a very handsome overall presentation.
