Una and the Lion Reimagined

It is quite evident that Royal Mint engraver, Jody Clark, approached this commission with the utmost respect for the original Una and the Lion design. Although, clearly his reimagined work reflects a much more contemporary flow, the same sense of regal beauty shines through. The obverse features all the same elements included in the original, however, the vertical bar format lends itself to the theme with even more distinction than the smaller coin field allowed.

Every aspect of the design flows toward the future, even Una's beautiful hair and the lion's mane are being blown forward, caught by the strong breeze. Completing the scene, an attractive swirling pattern fills the background. This is an incredibly fine contemporary reinterpretation of the original without having lost the any of its previous beauty and ethos. The reverse displays the official seal and trademark of The Royal Mint, along with the bar's 1 oz weight and 999.9 purity. The same pattern as the obverse fills the reverse background.
