As introduced by the mint,

"Inspired by the traditions of storytelling and folklore, passed down through centuries and generations, the Myths and Legends Collection from The Royal Mint launched in 2021, beginning with a three-coin series celebrating the famous tales of Robin Hood. The archer himself and Maid Marian appeared on the first two coins in the collection, and now the third coin in the series completes the trio of legendary characters with Little John, the faithful sidekick who is always ready to follow Robin Hood into battle."

Robin Hood's Right Hand Man

As a legal tender offering of Great Britain, the obverse of this 2022 Great Britain Myths & Legends Gold Coins and Ruthenium Little John 1oz Silver BU coin displays the right-facing effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created by Jody Clark. Inscriptions include "ELIZABETH II D. G. REG. F. D. 2 POUNDS."

The reverse features Little John, staff in hand, ready for action. His stern look shows his focus and his strength. The background texture is comprised of micro-dots, a remarkable table texture technology. Inscriptions encircling the rim include, "LITTLE JOHN . 1 OZ . FINE SILVER . 999 . 2022". The designer's initials (JC) are displayed at the bottom right.

The background texture is plated with ruthenium, while Little John and the inscriptions are gold-plated. The overall design is extremely well presented and the gold and ruthenium plating adds new depth and atmosphere to the coin. Only 200 will be minted, so reserve yours today!\
