On March 3, 1972, Pioneer 10, the first man-made object that departed our solar system, embarked on its journey. In case intelligent life forms from another planetary system ever discover the spacecraft, it carries a gold-anodized aluminum plaque. The Pioneer plaque showcases human male and female figures and symbols that convey information about the spacecraft's origin.
The obverse side of a coin within a hexagon displays a portion of the Pioneer plaque design. On the right side of the coin, a small circle bears the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Chad, with the inscription "REPUBLIC OF CHAD" above and the year 2022 below. Below the circle, the words "MESSAGE FROM EARTH" are written. The precious metal content of the coin, one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver, is inscribed diagonally above the right, while the anniversary dates of 1972-2022 are mentioned below left.
On the reverse side, the hexagon features another part of the Pioneer plaque design, depicting a man and woman standing nude in front of a spacecraft, with the man's right hand raised in greeting.
