BOLD is excited to present the Silver Peace Dollar from the esteemed US Mint, with the MS65 grade by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). The Peace Dollar succeeded the stunning Morgan Silver Dollar in 1922 and was minted until 1935. The Peace Dollars are sought after silver coins for their investment potential and collectible value.
The Silver Peace Dollar’s obverse bears the timeless effigy of Lady Liberty by Anthony De Francisci and modeled by his wife, Teresa. Lady is depicted in a left profile with intricate facial features, while she wears a radiate crown, symbolizing new beginnings and hope. The inscriptions surrounding the effigy are “LIBERTY,” the US motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issue.
The reverse side of the silver coin features the direct symbolism of the purpose of the coin, depicted by the American bald eagle perched on a rock that reads, “PEACE.” The eagle is displayed in a rather calming pose, with the rising sun and its rays in the background. The inscriptions surrounding the eagle are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. E PLURIBUS UNUM. ONE DOLLAR,” representing the country of issue, US motto, and face value respectively.
The Silver Peace Dollar was introduced in 1922, a successive coin for the Morgan Silver Dollar. This is also the first coin to directly depict its purpose and meaning, which is to increase awareness for peace after the devastating World War I.
