The Queen's Beasts series was inspired by ten legendary beast statues that guarded Westminster Abbey in London at Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953. The statues, designed by James Woodford, are based on Her Majesty's royal ancestry.

The Tudor Beasts are based on the ten statues that defend Hampton Court Palace, a 500-year-old palace that was home to Tudor and Stuart kings, including Henry VIII, who commissioned the statues following his marriage to Jane Seymour.

The House of Tudors was a royal house of Welsh descent that ruled England from the 15th to the 17th century. The current monarch of the House of Windsor is descended from the Tudor and Stewart houses. The new series, which may alternatively be called "King's Beasts," pays homage to both Henry VIII's and Jane Seymour's families.

David Lawrence said that when designing the Tudor Monsters he was inspired by the beasts that line the doors of Hampton Court, which he then stylized in a modern and unique way while remaining true to the naturalistic characteristics of the original beasts.

Seymour Panther

The collector versions launched in October 2021 at Hampton Court with the release of the Seymour Panther proof. This beast is represented with its mouth open, blowing flames, and an alluring perfume capable of enticing other creatures, and was intended to signify the union of a devoted consort and a powerful ruler - Jane Seymour and King Henry VIII.

King Henry VII and King Henry VIII used a panther as a symbol of their royal ancestry dating back to King Henry IV's reign. The proof collection comprises silver coins weighing 1, 2, 5, and 10 ounces, as well as 1 and 2 kilograms.

Lion of England

The Lion of England is a traditional symbol of bravery, power, and valor, and is one of the oldest and most majestic and famous beasts in heraldic art. It has appeared on the English shield since the 12th century.
