This 2016 Silver 1 oz Republic of Congo Gorilla proof-like coin is a magnificent second of series release by the U.S. based Scottsdale Mint, in cooperation with the government of the Republic of Congo.

The design displays a close view of this silverback gorilla's head, which fills the coin's reverse field. The large image provides the opportunity to study the beast's face, fully framed by fur. The expression on his face, gives the impression that he is standing alert. Then you realize, he is studying you, as his eyes are fixed on yours.

The background is sparse, but gives hint of the jungle that is his home. The coin's rim is encircled by attractive markings. Arched over the gorilla's image is the inscription "Congo Silverback Gorilla" and below is the date and purity. The obverse displays the crest of the Republic of Congo and face value of 5,000 Francs CFA. This is a design that will immediately catch your attention, and compliments the 2015 release perfectly.
