The series features stunning bullion offerings from the eight Eastern Caribbean Island nation members. Included are Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The second new edition to release is this 2020 1 oz Silver EC8 Dominica Hummingbird BU.
Each of the 2018 and 2019 8-coin editions quickly became best-sellers, and maintained strong series popularity throughout the full release cycle. The astounding natural beauty of the island nation of Dominica is poignantly captured by its descriptive name, the "Nature Isle of the Caribbean." An actively-evolving volcanic island of the Eastern Caribbean, Dominica is part of the Lesser Antilles chain. Dominica is lush with pristine rainforests and mountainous volcano-peaks, presenting some of the most interesting hiking experiences in the region. Home of Boiling Lake, one of the largest geothermal-active lakes in the world, demonstrates the powerful on-going effects of the deep volcanic activity.
There could hardly be a more wonderful place to take in the wonder of creation. The design of this 2020 1 oz Silver EC8 Dominica Hummingbird BU displays something of the beautiful, lush island vegetation, as well as its abundant wildlife.
The very attractive obverse will be common to the series. The inset features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Distinctive laurels of evergreen shrubs frame the portrait on either side, nearly filling the center inset. A narrow band encircles the rim, which includes the inscriptions, "EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK. 1 oz .999 SILVER . QUEEN ELIZABETH II . TWO DOLLARS."
The reverse features a Purple-throated Carib, a beautiful hummingbird species native to the Eastern Caribbean. It is depicted hovering above the absolutely lush vegetation and island flowers in search of sweet nectar. The backdrop displays a distant mountainous area. Inscriptions include "DOMINICA" arched at the top rim and "2020" at the left. This is a very pleasing design that captures a wonderful sense of the natural beauty of this remarkable island!
