This 2017 Silver 1 oz Republic of Congo Gorilla BU coin is a magnificent third of series release by the U.S. based Scottsdale Mint, in cooperation with the government of the Republic of Congo.

This design returns to the theme that launched the series in 2015. Even more fearful than the inaugural year, the beast' fierceness is vividly displayed. A head and shoulder scene shows this silverback gorilla with head back, chest fully expanded, and his massive jaws spread wide open. You can almost hear the deep, deafening growl reverberating through the dense jungle, which spreads behind him. And with its image in full color, the effect is amplified!

A Congo jungle scene fills the background, encircled by attractive markings. Arched over the gorilla's image is the inscription "Congo Silverback Gorilla" and below is the date and purity. The obverse displays the crest of the Republic of Congo and face value of 5,000 Francs CFA. This is a design that will immediately arrest your attention, and compliments the 2015 and 2016 releases perfectly.
