Our Home in the Universe

The Milky Way is the galaxy in which our sun, our planet and all eight others in our solar system, and all the stars we see in the sky reside. According to NASA:

"Our Sun (a star) and all the planets around it are part of a galaxy known as the Milky Way Galaxy. A galaxy is a large group of stars, gas, and dust bound together by gravity. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The Milky Way is a large barred spiral galaxy. All the stars we see in the night sky are in our own Milky Way Galaxy. Our galaxy is called the Milky Way because it appears as a milky band of light in the sky when you see it in a really dark area."

The obverse of the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadly effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the middle center at the top of the coin. All around the obverse, the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II . NIUE . 5 DOLLARS . 2022," "UNIVERSE" and the Ag 999 purity.

The reverse of the coin shows a colorful representation of our galaxy home, the Milky Way. The spiral galaxy is awash in color and brilliance. Fluorescent printing allows the coin to glow. At the bottom of the reverse, is the inscription "BLACK HOLE." A genuine meteorite is inserted into the center.
