Buy United States Mint Coins

The United States Mint is, perhaps, the busiest mint in the world. Not only does it mint collectible coins for sale all over the world, but it also mints the official currency of the United States of America. Their products range from 1 cent pennies to paper bills with face values in the thousands of dollars. Since they are a government-owned mint, investors and collectors can buy from it with confidence.

BOLD Precious Metals, in association with the U.S. Mint, brings a wide range of  gold and silver coins in a range of finishes, such as BU, Proof, Proof-like, and Antiqued for all investors and collectors.

United States Mint History

The U.S. Mint is a bureau of the Department of the Treasury (USDT) that was established on April 2, 1792. In making coins, the Mint has taken great pride in telling the story of our nation. Besides producing legal tender coinage for the country, the U.S. Mint also produces circulating coins that are used throughout the nation for trade and commerce. The Mint manages a wide range of commercial marketing programs. In addition to silver, gold, and platinum bullion coins, the product line also features coin sets for investors and collectors, uncirculated and commemorative coins commemorating important national events. The U.S. Mint presently operates production facilities in Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, and West Point, and a bullion depository at Fort Knox.

In 1906, the U.S. Mint introduced the American Silver Eagle as the official silver bullion coin of the United States, and it has been producing the American Eagle coins for sale in the BU and Proof versions since then.

The U.S. Mint produces a wide range of coins. The following coins are some of the more popular and highly collected pieces, and BOLD Precious Metals has them at the lowest prices online. And our simple, hassle-free checkout process makes buying them easier than ever.

American Silver Eagle Coins

On November 24, 1986, the first American Silver Eagle coin was struck by the Mint. The coin, struck in 1 troy ounce of 99.9% fine silver with a face value of $1. The surety of its weights, contents, and purity has been certified by United States Mint. The Silver Eagle coin is produced in the San Francisco Mint, the Philadelphia Mint, and the West Point Mint. The silver Eagle is great for Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).

The Eagle was designed by  Adolph A. Weinman, who also designed the Walking Liberty  coin. The coin’s design was initially used on the Walking Liberty half-dollar coin from 1916 to 1947. This iconic design was brought back for the silver eagle coin after many decades.

America The Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins

The largest bullion coin issued by the US mint is the America the Beautiful (ATB) 5 oz 99.9% silver coin. The ATB coin has a face value of a quarter dollar. The coin’s obverse is common to the series, depicting George Washington in a restored version of the portrait created by John Flanagan for the 1932 Washington quarter. The reverse of this amazing America the Beautiful coin displays a nation Park or a National Site, one from each state, territory, and federal district. Unlike the smaller ATB quarters, which have a reeded edge, this coin has smooth edges.

American Buffalo Silver Rounds

In 2001, United States Mint issued the American Silver Buffalo round as a commemorative silver dollar. This coin celebrates Nickel Buffalo as well as the National Museum of the American Indian. The designer of this beautiful American Silver Buffalo round is "James Earle Fraser". The obverse of the coin features an American Indian head that Fraser had based on the Sioux Iron Tail, the Kiowa Big Tree, and the Cheyenne Two Moons. The reverse features an American bison standing on a mound, which was based on the original Buffalo nickel reverse produced only in 1913.

90% Junk Silver Coins

United State Mint 90% Silver coins, also known as junk silver, normally refers to US Currency coins that contain 90% silver, which was the norm prior to 1965, when coins began being minted with mostly copper and little silver. The 90% silver coins come in two conditions: brilliant uncirculated (BU) to circulated (worn).

American Gold Eagle Coins

The Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985 has helped the American Gold Eagle to quickly become one of the world's leaders in gold bullion coin. Produced from gold mined in the United States, American Eagles are imprinted with their gold content and legal tender face value.

The act was passed by United States Congress pursuant to its exclusive power to coin money and set its value, set forth in Article I, Section 8, Clause 5 of the United States Constitution. It was signed by Ronald Reagan on December 17, 1985. One requirement is that all gold used in minting the coins would be from "newly mined domestic sources".

Because the term "eagle" also is the official United States designation for pre-1933 ten dollars gold coins, the weight of the bullion coin is typically used when describing American Gold Eagles (e.g., "1/2-ounce American Gold Eagle") to avoid confusion. This is particularly true with the 1/4-oz American Gold Eagle, which has a marked face value of ten dollars..

From 1986-1991 all Gold American Eagle coins were dated in Roman numerals. In 1992 United State Mint started the Arabic dating of Gold Eagles. All the Coins with fractional weights such as 1/10, 1/4, and 1/2 troy oz coins design is similar to the 1 oz American Gold Coin. The obverse of this coin displays an image of the U.S. Capitol, shown in the distance, positioned on the coin's lower left. Inscriptions include "Liberty" encircling the top of the coin, and the release year in the lower right. The reverse of this coin depicts an eagle bringing an olive branch to a nesting female eagle and her hatchlings.

American Gold Buffalo Coins

The design of the American Buffalo coin is based on James Earle Fraser’s design for the Indian Head Nickel, issued in early 1913. After the raised dirt below the buffalo in the first version was reduced, the Type 2 came into being and was minted for the rest of 1913 until 1938. However, it was not minted in 1922, 1932, and 1933. The same design was used on a Smithsonian commemorative coin in 2001.

The obverse depicts the picture of a Native American. Fraser created his design to be a mixture of features of three chiefs that modelled for the design: American Indian tribes: Two Moons, Iron Tail, and Big Tree. Inscriptions on this side are “Liberty” on the top, the mintage year at the bottom left, and an “F” below the year for Fraser.

On the reverse, as with the nickel version, is “E PLURIBUS UNUM” above the lower back side of the buffalo and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” above it. At the bison’s lower left is “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Below the bison is “$50” and 1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD.
